Free🎂 The Understudy is turning 3 and what better way to celebrate our birthday than to host another latte art throwdown? And y’all know, we looove to dress up at The Understudy, so the theme is JUNIOR PROM: A NIGHT IN PARIS. (Scroll down if you need some inspo, and yes there will be a costume contest!)
SO. CALLING ALL TALENTED BARISTAS IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA: think you got what it takes to be crowned coffee royalty? 👑
Hosted by Jett and Casey with a special halftime performance from the iconic Ari Gato.
And since it’s our third birthday, we are going aaaaalllll out- there will be:
- 🍕 from Pizza Lobo and sweet treats from Milli
- 🍺 and 🍹 NA Bevvys provided by MARZ Brewing, Hopewell Brewing and Spirit Tea
- 💐 A pop-up flower shop and coursages made by Colin, The Helpful Hummingbird
- 📸 A prom-inspired photobooth with pictures by Kyle Bode
Admission is free, but it’s $10 to compete. Doors and competitor check-in starts at 7pm, first pour is at 7:30(ish)pm. Contestants can only use steaming pitchers provided by The Understudy.
Each participant will receive a goody bag from Metric and the first 100 folks that show up will receive a free tote in courtesy of noissue!
Top 3 winners will win a cash prize of $150, $100 or $50, a royal court sash and crown as well as other prizes from Espresso Parts, La Marzocco, and Spirit Tea.
The throwdown will be judged by Ari Gato, Elle Jaballas, and a special guest from Metric.
